Board of Directors and Staff

Judy Baxter, President. Judy is an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She has her MA degree in Sociology from the University of Denver. Since 1983 her work has been focused on teaching Master's in Public Health students about the social factors that affect the health of individuals and communities and being project manager/investigator for several large NIH funded epidemiological studies of diabetes, heart disease and aging. She is also the principal investigator for an Agency for Health Care Research Quality large conference grant that trains clinicians, policy makers, journalists and consumer advocates in how to critically appraise and use medical research evidence in practice. Living with, surviving and dying from cancer is part of Judy's personal history through her closest friends and family. She knows what's involved in extensive treatment and the tough choices that have to be made. Judy hopes that her history and connection to the impact of cancer, as well as the wider medical and public health community throughout Colorado and nationally will be a resource for Sense of Security. And that she can be a vehicle for increasing awareness of the organization and its vital mission. She believes the need for and the power of relief that Sense of Security can give and hopes that her energies will serve the organization well.

Jared Ingwalson, Vice President. Jared and his wife Brenda moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1975 where they raised their two children Matt and Kate. Jared, after his successful 33-year career with the Johns Manville Corporation, is now Vice President of a national organization of contractors operating in 46 states with over 300 locations.  Offering community service has always been important to both Brenda and Jared who understand the need is great.  Both lost a parent to cancer and Brenda is now a cancer survivor. Jared has said, “In the old west if a barn burnt down, neighbors would gather and help rebuild. There is nothing more American than that display of community help. Sense of Security gets results and is driven by that same type of spirit, helping those who need a hand while they fight the fight of their lives. I could not be more proud to be a part of that endeavor."

Barbara Gerber, Secretary.

James Kennedy, Treasurer.

Marilyn Craig, Director . Marilyn is Director of Clinical Trials at Gilead Colorado, Inc. Her career has focused on Clinical Research and Development of new drug candidates at biotechnology companies. She has worked extensively in oncology and has witnessed, both professionally and in her family, the tribulations faced by cancer patients as they seek treatment.  Marilyn’s excitement about Sense of Security is natural as our mission encompasses two causes she is passionate about: assisting patients seeking treatment and to be personally involved in a community commitment to assist one another as we navigate difficulties in life.  She is an extensive traveler, and is going to welcome a child into her family this year.

Justine Lopez, Director.
